Homer Harris Park

By creating a place for initiating social transformation, Homer Harris Park does more than celebrate the life of one of our city's key citizens; it tells a story of racial struggle and undaunted commitment to a dream. It expresses the deep feelings that racial barriers can be overcome that radiate from the "human unity plaza."
Worthy and Associates designed the Park to fully meet the needs of numerous citizen action groups, public agencies, and private benefactors.

Funds were provided by the Seattle Parks Department ProParks Levy and a single donation of $1.3 million to the Seattle Parks Foundation to honor the life of Dr. Homer Harris. On a 1/2 acre lot on 24th Avenue East and East Howell, this new, Central East neighborhood park was designed and constructed in just 1 1/2 years.
